StarBar privacy policy
Effective June 1, 2026
This policy describes how StarBar handles information in
the macOS app and on the website at starbar.app. StarBar is a
native menu bar utility for reading Starlink telemetry on your local network.
Local Starlink telemetry
StarBar reads diagnostic data exposed by Starlink hardware on your local network, including latency, ping success, throughput, outage events, power draw, obstruction state, router clients, device information, and radio or interface stats when those fields are available.
This telemetry is processed on your Mac for display in the app. The core app experience does not require a StarBar account.
What StarBar does not collect
- Your browsing history, messages, files, contacts, microphone, camera, or location.
- Your Starlink account password.
- Your router client list for resale, advertising, or profiling.
- Data for training AI models.
Support requests
If you contact support, we receive the name, email address, message, and any device or diagnostic context you choose to include. We use that information only to reply and troubleshoot your request.
Website data
The website is static. Hosting providers may process ordinary request metadata, such as IP address, user agent, URL, and timestamp, to serve the site securely and understand operational issues.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share StarBar usage data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data retention
Support emails are retained as long as needed to resolve the request and maintain a reasonable support history. Local telemetry shown by the app is stored on your Mac according to the app's local history behavior and can be removed by deleting the app data.
Changes
We may update this policy as StarBar evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
